If You Ever Notice Your Door Handle With A Rubber Band On It DO NOT Touch It

Our home should always make us feel safe and secure, providing a place to rest and recharge. Many people install surveillance cameras and other security measures to protect their homes, but thieves continue to find new ways to break in.

Kim Fleming Cernigliaro, a woman from Texas, recently shared her story to raise awareness about a new tactic used by burglars. While home alone, Kim heard a loud and persistent knocking on her door. Trusting her instincts, she didn’t open it since she wasn’t expecting anyone.

Later, when she checked the door, she found a rubber band wrapped around the handle. Alarmed, she called the police, who explained that thieves use this trick to keep the latch open. Once the door is unlatched, the rubber band prevents the homeowner from locking it again, making it easy for burglars to enter.

Kim now warns others to be extra cautious when answering the door for unexpected visitors.
