Here’s Why Purchasing a Rotisserie Chicken from Walmart Is a Bad Idea

When it comes to purchasing a rotisserie chicken, Walmart may not be the best choice for you. While the low price may be tempting, there are a few reasons why you might want to reconsider.

Size Does Matter

At Walmart, you’ll only be getting less than 2 pounds of chicken for $4.98. To be exact, it weighs 1 lb. 13 oz. Why settle for less when for the same price, you can pick up a larger bird at Sam’s Club or Costco?

Taste Matters Too

Not only is size important, but flavor also plays a significant role. Reviews on Walmart’s product page are hit or miss, with complaints about overcooked or undercooked chicken. In contrast, Costco consistently ranks highest in taste tests. They offer a super juicy and flavorful rotisserie chicken that tops the charts, while Walmart’s falls behind.

Sodium Content

Of course, everyone has different dietary needs and preferences. If you’re watching your sodium intake, Walmart might have an edge in that department. Their rotisserie chicken contains 690 mg of sodium for a 3-ounce serving. This is slightly higher than Sam’s Club at 550 mg and Costco at 460 mg. However, if you want a lower sodium option, Whole Foods has you covered with their rotisserie chicken containing just 280 mg of sodium per 1/4 of a bird.

So, next time you’re in the mood for a rotisserie chicken, consider your options. While Walmart may seem like a convenient choice, there are other stores that offer better value and taste.
