Elon Musk responds to Donald Trump’s deportation threat with menacing tweet

The feud between Elon Musk and Donald Trump has escalated dramatically, with the president now floating the idea of deporting the Tesla CEO. Their public spat began in June when the former allies clashed on social media, leading to Musk threatening to fund opposition campaigns.

Trump has retaliated by targeting electric vehicle subsidies benefiting Tesla and hinting at cutting all government ties with Musk’s companies. The latest threat emerged when Trump told Fox News, “We’ll have to take a look,” regarding potential deportation, joking about “putting DOGE on Elon” – a cryptic reference to reducing subsidies.

Musk responded cryptically on X: “So tempting to escalate this… But I will refrain for now.” Investors urged caution, fearing market repercussions if the conflict intensifies. The billionaire’s companies, including SpaceX’s NASA contracts, could face significant disruption.

Legally, deporting Musk appears unlikely. He became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2002 after entering on a student visa. Experts note citizenship can only be revoked for fraud – something never alleged against Musk.

However, Trump’s administration has shown willingness to push legal boundaries. A former White House official even suggested seizing Musk’s companies alongside deportation. The president’s “DOGE” comments imply plans to slash Tesla’s government benefits.

The standoff highlights Musk’s precarious position despite his wealth and influence. While immediate deportation seems improbable, Trump’s threats could still damage Musk’s business interests and political aspirations.

As tensions simmer, the tech mogul faces difficult choices – either escalate the conflict or seek reconciliation. The outcome could reshape both the electric vehicle industry and U.S. tech policy for years to come.
