My DIL Ruined My Wedding Dress — So, I Ruined Her Wedding Day

A wedding dress can hold immense significance and is often considered one of our most precious belongings. This is why Madeline wanted to pass her mother’s wedding dress to her only son’s bride. The bride accepted, but Madeline was crushed to see her beloved dress fully altered. Things took a turn for the worse at the wedding, and Madeline later wrote to us to share her story. This is Madeline’s letter:My mother’s wedding dress is the only thing I have left from her.

I wore it at my wedding, and I want to pass it on to my grandkids. I only have one son, so for his wedding, I wanted his bride to wear it. She smiled politely and agreed On the wedding day, I was horrified. She had fully altered the design and cut it into a short dress. Worse, my son knew He came to me and declared, “It’s her day, Mom!” He added, “Never did I imagine you’d ask her such a thing. You put her in an awkward position where she couldn’t refuse, so this is what she had to do instead! wanted to yell at my son and remind him how important that dress is to me, but l didn’t say a word. I simply went up to their hotel room.

I told the reception that I am the grooms mom and have a surprise that I want to leave in their room. They knew me, so they granted me permission. I went up and cut short the expensive maxi dress she had prepared for their honeymoon in Bali. I think it’s fair for what she did to my most valued possession. She could have simply told me she didn’t want to wear it instead of trying to look like the good, blushing bride. Do you think I overreacted? Yours, Madeline
