Teenagers find \u201cfrozen\u201d creature stuck under car, rushes it to the vet who can\u2019t believe her eyes<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Two teenage boys were walking through their local area when they noticed a crowd of people huddled around a car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As they got closer they tried to make out what the crowd was looking at, but it was the strangest site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A creature was just frozen, unable to move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boys knew they had to act quickly if this animal was to survive but they had no idea how to help the poor critter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was in the Canadian town of Saint Andrews in New Brunswick that friends Jaydon Pettipas and Aidan Hart made the unusual discovery, reports news channel CBC<\/a> in Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two teenage boys would be hailed as heroes for their actions before the end of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When they noticed a group of people huddled around they had to see what had caused them to stop and stare. But even close up they weren\u2019t sure what they were looking at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The animal was barely recognizable and looked like it was frozen solid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A squirrel was trapped under a car and covered in insulation foam. They knew it didn\u2019t have long left to live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere was nothing recognizable about it,\u201d 15-year-old Jaydon told CBC Canada.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boys knew the squirrel needed help but wasn\u2019t sure how to get that help so they went inside a grocery store and grabbed a small milk crate to house the squirrel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nobody around the boys knew what to do either and as time passed, the emergency got greater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boys made calls to friends and family asking for help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then Jaydon\u2019s mom stepped in and contacted a veterinary clinic 20 miles away and was told to bring the animal in immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI had never seen anything like this before,\u201d Dr. Melanie Eagan, from St. George Veterinary Clinic said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said the squirrel was so encrusted in the insulation foam, it could only move its back legs slightly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the boys had not acted so quickly and the boys\u2019 mother hadn\u2019t helped them to bring the squirrel in, then it may not have survived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The veterinarian suspected that the animal may have been living in someone\u2019s garage, basement or shed and got caught in the material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Become in distress\u2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSomeone was probably patching up a hole trying to keep a draft out and this little guy ran through it when it was still wet,\u201d she said<\/a>. \u201cBut that stuff hardens pretty quickly so it wouldn\u2019t have taken long for him to become in distress.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said it took time, patience and rubbing alcohol to loosen the foam from the animal\u2019s fur. She then combed it out, causing the animal to lose some of its fur.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
